ADDING ANOTHER POTATO!
....or two!! ;)
....or two!! ;)
Hi! Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my blog and for your interest in our adoption journey. The road that led us to pursue international adoption has been filled with twists and turns, and it has all been so unexpected that I can hardly wrap my mind around it.
The short story is God put foster care and adoption on our hearts in the spring of 2011, and we felt that He was calling us to become foster parents in order to adopt through the child welfare system. We became licensed foster parents in February of 2012 and received our first placment in March. This little boy was a complete and utter joy and we all quickly fell in love with him; however, adoption was not part of God's plan for this little guy's life and he was reunited with his family two months later. Saying goodbye and letting go of this sweet boy we had come to love was one of the hardest things I have ever done, but God was faithful and brought me through all of the heartache and pain, and even threw in a sweet ending.
During this time God brought two wonderful and inspirational families into our lives and we began to feel that God was still leading us to adopt, but that He was leading us toward international adoption. I began to research international adoption agencies and request information and before we knew it we had decided to pursue international adoption. We settled on an agency and decided on the China special needs program all in just a matter of weeks. We sent in our official application on September 17 (the day after our 12th wedding anniversary) and were approved on September 25. For the complete timeline of our adoption process please see the Adoption #1 Timeline tab above. We adopted our sweet boy on January 21, 2014 and arrived home to become a family of six on January 29, 2014 (you can read his adoption story here). Our son has been an amazing blessing to our family and we can't imagine our lives without him!
We are currently in the process of adding another (fifth) potato to our sack through adoption and should be welcoming a daughter from China in the coming months! Please follow our journey on our Facebook group (Adding a Potato) and eventually I will also post her story here on my blog (I know, I have a lot of catching up to do).
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read our story and we covet your prayers and support in the coming months. We look forward to continuing to share the incredible story that God is writing, and we give all praise and glory to Him.
Love,
Jennifer, Jason, & Family
